In this our second year of 2019-2020, we hope to continue to be a positive cultural force at Sage International School.  We want to take students out of their comfort zones, to try something new (or master new skills), and to give them challenges they otherwise would not experience in the school atmosphere.  At the same time, we will push students to transfer their outdoor experiences back to their lives at home and in school, by reinforcing IB curriculum on every trip.  We will also teach natural and social histories of the places we travel and adventure, as well as teach and maintain a "leave no trace" ethic.

This year, our expeditions will consist of Friday day trips, overnight weekend trips (Thursday after school to Saturday afternoon), and longer "break" trips (Fall, Winter, and Spring).  Once a month, we will offer free, Friday service trips to nearby areas where we can help land managers enhance our natural southwest Idaho areas.

For every outing, enrollment will be based on a randomized lottery process, and not the first to register.  Hopefully, this allows all students to access the expeditions in a more equitable manner.  If a student is wait-listed for a trip, they will be given priority on the next trip they register for.  There will be a cutoff time to enter your student's name for each trip.

Scholarships will be available for all trips.  Depending on the trip, there may be an offer of a full scholarship or for half-price.  Parents will need to fill out this form.  No matter what level of financial assistance, it is expected that students will spend time volunteering for the outdoor program.  This is a discreet process; work is done out of sight and no attention is drawn to students.  We believe this reinforces the idea that students must be invested in the choice to attend a trip and realize the value of a scholarship.

In the 2018-2019 school year, Sage Expeditions hosted 27% of our grade 3 through 12th students (202 unique students) who participated in 664 student days of adventure!  38 different teachers accompanied us!  And we gave out $1200 in scholarship money.  Finally, we led the following trips:
*Day hiking
*Overnight backpacking
*Scrambling and peak summits
*Whitewater rafting
*Rock climbing
*Trail building
*River clean-up
*Rake-Up Boise
*Alpine/Downhill skiing
*Nordic skiing
*Backcountry skiing
